Serving Our Community
The ALLCOPS concept is based on the fact that no one local agency has all the resources or staff to address the criminal justice problems facing Allegan County. By combining resources and staff in a coordinated and cooperative approach, county residents will see more efficient and effective results.
Under the ALLCOPS program, the county’s 24 townships have been divided into five area community teams. Officers and resources from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, the Michigan State Police, and local law enforcement agencies will be assigned to each team.
ALLCOPS incorporates team community-based policing and the “Adopt-a-Township” component into the structure of the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office. This includes the development of proactive traffic enforcement, community-oriented investigative services, school resource officers, and all state and municipal policing services working together in a uniform approach to policing in Allegan County.
