WEMET is a three County multijurisdictional narcotics task force covering Allegan, Ottawa and Muskegon Counties. WEMET is made up of officers from local, state, federal and county law enforcement agencies. By combining the expertise and resources of multiple agencies a strong specialized drug enforcement team is created which is able to fight the spread of drugs and drug dealers at a local level.

While the Allegan Wemet Team is committed to removing all types of drugs and drug dealers from the street the majority of its time and resources have been utilized fighting the spread of methamphetamine and the destruction it causes to Allegan County communities.

The fight against methamphetamine needs help from the community at large. Local retailers and citizens can by invaluable in the fight against methamphetamine by educating themselves on the dangers of the drug and the precursors to its manufacture bought locally. Calls made to the WEMET office or a statewide anonymous methamphetamine tip line are investigated by WEMET detectives.

Although WEMET is mainly responsible for the enforcement of narcotics laws it has taken an active role in education through methamphetamine awareness presentations to first responders and community organizations. WEMET also participates in the Meth Diversion Program and supports its goal to return individuals arrested for methamphetamine addiction crimes to productive members of society through a comprehensive multi-faceted approach.
